TENS Unit Modes and Benefit Education

Every TENS unit mode individually has its own amazing benefits to help with relaxation, strengthen and recover muscle, help with pain management, and promote overall health. We suggest that you initially experiment using all the modes. The mode or a combination of modes that gives you the most desirable sensations and comfort is the most appropriate one to use for your desired therapy session.



Acupuncture

Description

Stimulating acupuncture provides the same sensation without needles, by utilizing electronic pulses to achieve the sensation of differing needle depths. 

Function

By stimulating specific acupuncture points, it corrects imbalances in the flow of Qi through channels known as meridians.

Ankle

Description

Function

Stimulate pain points in the ankle or tendonitis etc. for pain relief or muscle relaxation.

Arm Pull

Description

Arm pull is one of the most impressive strength moves in physical fitness history.

Function

Good for wrist/elbow/shoulder joints. Make arm strong.

Body Building

Description

Combination of acupuncture and other waveforms.

Cupping

Description

Stimulating cupping, relatively constant stimulation contracts muscles.

Function

Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite etc.

Deep Tissue Massage  

Description

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the keeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension.

Function

Deep tissue massage can provide relief from pain and stiffness associated with sports injuries, whiplash, osteoarthritis, muscle spasms, fibromyalgia and strain injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome.

Effleurage

Description

“Effleurage” is derived from the French verb “effleurer” which means “to stroke” or “to skim over”.

Function

Stimulating the nerves in the tissues worked; stimulating blood supply to the tissue worked.

Elbow

Finger Massage  

Description

This is one of the most common skills in Chinese traditional therapy. It is a gentle skill and most used on leg, back and stomach.

Function

It helps relax skin and muscle, improve blood circulation.

Finger Release  

Description

Pull fingers and give a light pressure after the fingers are relaxed.

Function

This skill is very good for finger joints relax.

Flicking

Description

Flick hands rhythmically up and down in rapid succession.

Function

Percussion movements are very stimulating and make body relaxing. Tapotement is extremely useful for athletes before an event.

Foot

Description

Stimulating feet, top or sole.

Function

It helps reduce pain from plantar fsciiatis, sore sole, pain relief from the reflecting points.

Friction

Description

The purpose of deep friction massage is to maintain the mobility within the soft tissue structures of ligament, tendon, and muscle and prevent adherent scars from forming.

Function

The frequency and duration of treatment varies with the severity and type of the injury. In a recent injury, i.e., ligament sprain, start daily with gentle massage to keep mobility. It is important for the therapist to distinguish between tenderness and pain.

Guasha

Description

Stimulating with a low frequency setting provides the user with a scratching and kneading sensation. Guasha releases unhealthy elements from injured areas and stimulates blood flow and healing.

Function

Guasha is effective in acute and chronic internal organ disorders. Patients may see immediate relief that patients feel from pain, stiffness, fever, chill, cough, wheeze, nausea and vomiting etc.

Hand

Hip

Can enhance function, aid in the healing process, decrease muscle reflex activity, inhibit motor-neuron excitability, promote relaxation and well-being, and as a recreational activity.

Shiatsu

Description

Stimulating Shiatsu is a type of alternative medicine consisting of finger and palm pressure, stretches, and other massage techniques.

Function

Shiatsu can help facilitate healing from many minor ailments. From headaches and back pain to digestive, sinus and skin problems.

Shoulder

Skin Rolling  

Description

Rolling the skin and muscle on the lower back.

Function

Soft Tissue Massage

It’s especially effective for joint pain, sciatica, muscle spasms, and pain in the back, neck, and shoulders. It also helps chronic conditions such as insomnia, constipation, headaches, and the tension associated with stress.

Vibration

Description

Vibrations are a massage technique in which tissues of the body are pressed and released in an “up and down” movement. This often takes the form of a fine trembling movement applied using the palmar surfaces or just some of the fingertips of either or both hands.

Function

Soothing irritated nerves; loosening scar tissue; relaxing muscles in the forearm; stimulating circulation; stimulating glandular activity.

Wrist
